Popular video sharing service Vimeo has just announced Version 2.0 of its app. The company, founded back in 2004, has completely re-built the Android app, as well as setting up a dedicated Android team.

The Vimeo team have changed the video upload process to make it as simple and quick as possible. You can also restrict access to the video by adding password protection – perfect if its something you only want to share with a select view.

The Vimeo player within the app has also been re-built so it’s quick to view the vital stats, including plays, likes and comments. It’s now also easier for users to follow the video creators, so if you regularly publish videos on Vimeo yourself you should see a benefit from this as well.

To go alongside the updated Vimeo Player, the rest of the app interface has been improved so it’s both beautiful and easy to use.

To help you discover more video, the curation team at sift through all videos uploaded to select the best in each category. These staff picks are highlighted within everything from Sports to Animation.

Previously these were only visible on the website but the new Android 2.0 version of the app now has them included. Within the app you can follow the categories that matter to you, cutting out the clutter of crazy people skating or never ending memes.

Try the new features yourself today on your phone or tablet with a free download of the Vimeo Android app at the Google Play Store.
