For Apple Watch owners things have just got better, with Vouchercloud announcing last week that their iOS app has been tweaked so it’s now compatible with the Apple Watch.
This is a bold move, ahead of rival apps and clearly Vouchercloud have confidence that the Apple Watch is here to stay. The company was the first to launch a money-saving app of it’s kind in the UK, gaining investment from Vodafone in the process and now fully owned by the telecoms giant.
Users can now redeem offers directly from their smartwatch, which is great for simplifying the process in-store at the till or when you come to pay your restaurant bill.
The app is still completely free to download and if you haven’t already done so, you’re seriously missing out on saving cash on the high street. Boasting thousands of partnerships, the Vouchercloud app offers discounts on everything from clothing and fragrance to slap up dinners and hotel stays.
Since the Apple Watch was launched in the UK, around 9,000 existing iPhone apps have now been made compatible with the device. This is just a drop in the ocean compared to the 1.5 million (yes million) apps in total listed in the App Store.
Clearly there’s a huge opportunity for existing app owners to tweak existing apps for the Apple Watch, but with this comes further expense and I expect some are still wary while adoption rates are low.
Does this mean we’ll have a rush of compatible apps when the Apple Watch goes mainstream? Without a doubt. So if you’ve recently splurged on the smartwatch, hold tight and expect to see thousands of more compatible apps within the coming months.
