The new Companion app which will installed on Windows 8 phones by default is designed to replace the Zune client.

What does the Windows Companion app do?

The companion app will allow you to access all your essential windows documents such as photos, word documents, music files with a view to faster syncing of data to your handset from your PC.

The app will act as a sort of phone management  application, to make navigating, controlling and accessing yout files easier and more intuative.

The app will to be ready to coincide with the launch of the windows 8 phone in late October this year.

Samsung first to reveal Windows 8 phone

Samsung have been the first to reveal their upcoming Windows 8 device, the Ativ S.

At just just 8.7mm thick, it is one of the thinnes

The Ativ S features a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLEDdisplay,  a 1.5GHz dual-core processor,  an an eight-megapixel rear camera and 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera. It has 1GB of RAM, and will come in 16GB and 32GB versions.
